Hi. I’m Lauren. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am a poet, copywriter, and content strategist with over fifteen years of experience creating valuable content for diverse audiences. My life’s work is about using language, data, and design for collective liberation.

When Lauren was 18, she was a rapper. In 2000, she won her first poetry slam and went on to represent Oklahoma City in 13 regional & national poetry tournaments. Lauren is the author of The Smell of Good Mud (Write Bloody, 2012) and The Nickel Tour (Penmanship, 2009). Her poetry has over 2 million views on YouTube, has been tattooed on skin, made into dance performances, featured in Autostraddle, MoveOn.org, NPR, Button Poetry, and performed in high school speech competitions across the country. She’s performed and taught at over 200 colleges in North America and is a three-time international poetry slam finalist. Read Full Bio

Lauren holds a BA in Strategic Communications from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 2012, she served as Activist-in-Residence at the University of Oklahoma’s Center for Social Justice. In 2016, she completed a Generative Fellowship for Social Movements + Innovation Labs (SM+I). In 2019, she founded the OKC Pride Alliance to build a more inclusive #OKCPrideFest. Since 2019, she’s completed 3 HubSpot Certifications, 1 Nonprofit Management Certification, and 2 Design Thinking Certifications. She’s currently employed as a Content Marketing Specialist at Wheel, a woman-led healthcare tech company revolutionizing healthcare.
