Meta Advertising Policies are now Meta Advertising Standards, with no changes to the policies or how they are enforced, but more clarify and ease of use for people and businesses.

The company said Meta Advertising Standards are now accessible via its Transparency Center.

Vice president of content policy development Nell McCarthy explained in a blog post, “These policies, which are in addition to our Community Standards, are designed to protect people from poor experiences while supporting meaningful connections between businesses and everyone who uses our platforms. This balance is especially important as ads may be delivered to people from pages or accounts they don’t follow.”

McCarthy added that in some cases, language was updated in these policies, and in others, they have been streamlined or consolidated, providing before-and-after images below:

Meta is also sharing more information around existing policies that impact business assets on its platforms, such as ad accounts, business accounts, pages and user accounts, providing additional transparency to highlight that violations of the Meta Advertising Standards, attempts to evade policy enforcement, running ads from inauthentic accounts or being part of violating networks may warrant penalties against a business asset, including restricting the ability of a business or user to advertise on its platforms.

McCarthy wrote, “These clarifications incorporate feedback from our advertisers and industry partners and are intended to give them clearer information about our policies so that we can work together to provide positive experiences for our community. We look forward to continuing those conversations with the goal of further improving transparency across our products.”
