We are excited to announce that RMRK is joining the zkSync Era Hack Series as sponsors. There is a $5,000 bounty for developers who are looking to build exciting new use cases for RMRK’s advanced NFT protocol. The best part? It’s all virtual and so developers can participate regardless of location. Let’s unpack the details around the hackathon and RMRK’s $5k bounty.

The hackathon

Important information:

  • It will run for one month (February 20 — March 19)
  • It is virtual — developers can participate from anywhere in the world
  • It is async — developers can join anytime during the 30 days

The zkSync Era Hack Series is a first-of-its-kind hackathon on buidlbox that’s created in partnership with Argent and a host of other web3 co-sponsors. The hackathon is organized into different tracks with multiple challenges per track. Each track is sponsored by a different project, and one of those projects is RMRK.

RMRK Implementation Bounty

Worth $5,000, this bounty encourages developers to push the limits of what is possible with NFTs using RMRK’s advanced NFT legos. These legos include:

  • Multi-Asset functionality which enables a single NFT to have many assets (JPG, PDF, MP3, etc.). The applications for this functionality include improved NFT storage, multi-media NFTs that can load into different contexts,
  • Nestable functionality which enables NFTs to own other NFTs. Imagine a game character and his in-game items.
  • Equippable functionality which enables NFTs to equip other NFTs and thus create new hybrid NFTs composed of both NFTs. An example is the Kanaria bird below to which item NFTs are equipped.
  • Soulbound 2.0 functionality which enables an NFT to be soulbound to another NFT (making it non-transferable).

For more information on these legos, review the EVM documentation.

For a project to qualify for the bounty, it must be something that was not possible with the legacy standards. Some examples of such solutions are:

  1. A blockchain game that utilizes RMRK smart contracts to track player progression and evolution
  2. A membership pass holding additional passes as child NFTs
  3. A merit tracking portfolio for academic achievements, where academic publications can be equipped into it

Why you should participate

  • Participants gain access to workshops and mentorship from zkSync, Argent, RMRK, and other web3 leaders.
  • It also provides the chance to connect with community contributors, engineering teams, and zkSync ecosystem projects.
  • $25,000 prize pool across various tracks.

We look forward to reviewing your innovative projects. Click here to register.

Don’t forget to catch RMRK at ETHDenver 2023.

About RMRK

RMRK is a next-generation NFT protocol that equips NFTs with superpowers, making it possible for NFTs to own other NFTs, change based on conditions, have multiple outputs depending on context, accept emojis, and more.

With these legos, RMRK enables the creation of the most advanced NFT projects the world has ever seen, while remaining compatible with archaic standards like ERC721 and ERC1155. You can explore this right now on Kanaria, RMRK’s flagship Modular NFT project; join the revolution in Skybreach, a truly decentralized metaverse; or trade advanced NFTs on Singular, the advanced NFT marketplace.
