#63-Talking Cults and Healing with Vennie Kocsis

Vennie Kocsis was born into a Naval family, beginning her life with a childhood filled with adventure and exploration as her father retired from the Navy and went to work for Northrup Grumman. In her memoir, “Cult Child,” Vennie delves into the challenging circumstances of her upbringing within two wilderness compounds, highlighting the resilience that got her through those difficult, formative years.
In the episode, Vennie shares the harsh conditions she grew up in and the journey into recovering from the terror that was her childhood.

#59- A Cult Survivor Meets a Psychiatrist- Interview with Dr. Rebecca Allen

#59- A Cult Survivor Meets a Psychiatrist- Interview with Dr. Rebecca Allen

Welcome to The Truth That Heals Podcast!

This episode seeks to understand the importance of taking care of our mental health as well as the role psychiatry has in assisting people to getting the help they need.

Joining me for today's episode is Dr. Rebecca Allen who walks us through what the process is like becoming a psychiatrist, what depression looks like, and we even get to talk about a few movies and tv shows, and more!

In the latter part of the interview we steer the discussion towards a different direction. As a survivor of an End Times Cult it was important for me to ask a few questions regarding some of the behaviors I witnessed inside the cult and to hear an expert's thoughts on the matter.

This was an enjoyable interview for me as a podcaster and very eye/mind opening.

Do more research

This interviewer needs to respect the interviewee by doing more research and asking more open-ended questions instead of, “Was your experience _______ or _______?”

Understand Mr Hernandez is a survivor himself but it seems like he’s just looking to share his experiences instead of truly getting to know others’.
