Margaret's Obituary

“She was a titan of a woman, someone who cared and provided for everyone around her. To know her was to love her.”

 

Margaret (Wells) Johnson, “Granny”, 95, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, while listening to “His Eye is On the Sparrow” at Augusta Health Medical Center in Fishersville, Virginia.

She was born December 17, 1927 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Julius Pryor and Lillian Mills.

She retired as a Chef from Massanutten Springs Conference Center and was a member of Apostolic Church of Staunton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank G. Johnson, Jr.; siblings, Julius Pryor, Beverly Pryor, Carol Jackson and Bobby Jackson; her beloved furbaby, Keleigh the dog.

Margaret is survived by her children, Iris W. Lang and Chris and Michele Saxman; grandchildren, Ray and Caleris Jackson, Daniel and Kathy (Lang) Hoilman, Kyle and Mary Taylor, William and Chelsea Saxman, Nora Saxman, John Saxman and Leanna Tucker; great grandchildren, Xavier and Sophia Jackson, Haley, Jaden and Julius Hoilman; great grandfurbabies, Luna, Winston, Moose, Sid, Billie and Tracker; sister-in-law, Emma Pryor; nieces and  nephews, Charles and Shelly Pryor, Laura Pryor, Anthony and Reva Pryor, Rodney and Tamara Pryor and Claudia Pryor; a host of great nieces and great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews, family, friends and those that Granny has adopted along the way.

Public viewing will be Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the chapel of McCutcheon and Jones Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Staunton. You may bring a chair if you desire.
