On August 24th, The Sandbox launches their third Alpha Season. Following up on two previous alphas, The Sandbox raises the ante again with over 90 experiences and thousands of SAND tokens up for grabs!
After The Sandbox ran their Alpha Season 1 last year, and Alpha Season 2 earlier this year, players have been eagerly awaiting Season 3. That time is soon upon us, and The Sandbox just revealed some juicy details about their upcoming play and earn alpha.
The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 is free to play and open to all, but if you want a chance to earn SAND rewards from playing, you will need an alpha pass or other Sandbox NFT. The Sandbox also introduces a new KYC requirement for earning prizes. This was brought about as a result of some unscrupulous players creating multiple accounts to increase their chances for prizes.
Alpha Season 3
This alpha includes over 90 experiences from a wide variety of sources. This includes partners such as The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, and the Smurfs, experiences created by the Sandbox team, experiences created from the Game Maker Fund, twelve user-created experiences and sixteen entries from previous game jams!
In addition, Alpha Season 3 allows players to use avatar NFTs from numerous collections in-game. This includes Steve Aoki, Bored Apes, Moonbirds, and more!
There will be some changes to rewards in Season 3, including guaranteed rewards for certain NFT holders. While the holders of Alpha passes still receive the largest rewards, those holding Sandbox lands, avatars, and ‘NFTs’, can also earn by completing levels.
In a new addition, this Alpha Season will include a leaderboard with a whopping 1.5 million SAND tokens given out to the top players! Players gain rank on the leaderboard by accumulating Ethos points. Ethos points are earned for every quest completed. The harder the quest, the more points it is worth. Also, the faster you complete the quest, the more points you earn. All quests are repeatable, so players can keep trying to improve their score. The top player walks away with 30,000 SAND (worth over $35,000 USD at the moment), so this is a pretty serious play to earn opportunity!
There are still a lot of details to be revealed. Such as what they mean when they say an ‘NFT collector’ can earn rewards. And how the KYC process will work. But since the alpha starts soon, I would hope that those details drop over the next few days.
What is The Sandbox?
