🏆 V163-4.5MW™ claims the top spot in Windpower Monthly’s annual "Turbines of the Year" Awards   The V163-4.5 MW has been awarded Gold in the category of Onshore Turbines up to 5.6 MW.   The recognition underscores the commercial significance of our latest #HighCapacityFactor wind turbine, strategically designed to enhance wind project economy in medium to lower wind conditions through effective value capture.   Leveraging modularisation, the V163-4.5 MW achieves superior park Annual Energy Production with a larger rotor-to-rating ratio, all the while preserving value chain certainty. This results in a competitive business case.   Watch this video to learn more about the V163-4.5 MW: https://lnkd.in/dkZFQPYx Read and sign up for our blog series to learn how to enhance your business case with #HighCapacityFactor wind turbines: https://lnkd.in/d5_QjP_s

it looks really strange when the video keeps cutting from footage showing the turbine from the front to footage showing it from behind, because it looks like the rotor spins back and forth (clockwise from front, counter from behind). It would also be interesting if you could show in a simple way that it's not just about MW capacity but the production at low speeds. Surely this can be visualised in a simple way.

Congratulations for the V163-4.5 MW but what wind turbine would Vestas recommend if a wind farm is to be built on the tops of hills of a wind-swept Scottish island, like Islay, where a IEC Class I wind turbine would have up to 69% capacity factor? Do Vestas have an onshore wind turbine in the 6MW to 7MW range which is suitable for such a high-wind speed location? I got to help build 32 of these units fall/winter of 2022-2023. They were surprisingly easy to erect and bring online. Talking with people who've worked on many other brands and models these Vestas 4.5's seem to be about the best for ease of installation and maintenance. I certainly wouldn't mind erecting some more, even in -40°C again, lol.
