Dr. Birx’s comments about COVID-19 vaccines vindicate Sen. Rand Paul

.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has been heavily criticized by those on the Left for fighting back against mask and vaccine mandates. He was censored by Big Tech and vilified by Democratic politicians who claimed Paul’s efforts to not “trust the science” was detrimental to the country. Yet, over time, as more and more data have become available, it is evident that it was the Democrats who were harmful to the country, not the Kentucky Republican. Consider the recent admission by Dr. Deborah Birx regarding the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Birx, the former White House COVID response coordinator, stated in an interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox News that she knew the vaccines wouldn’t stop infections. Birx’s comments align with what Paul was saying last year regarding the vaccines and the sycophantic nature in which Democrats were pushing them on the public.

“I knew these vaccines were not going to protect against infection,” Birx said. “And I think we overplayed the vaccines, and it made people then worry that it’s not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization. It will. But let’s be very clear: 50% of the people who died from the omicron surge were older, vaccinated.”

Consider Paul’s comments in an exchange with Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra last September. Paul challenged Becerra on the efficacy of vaccines compared to natural immunity. At the time, Paul was one of only a few people who challenged those in charge, and he was criticized, condemned, and vilified by many left-wingers for it. Some even claimed Paul’s words were causing people to die. As it turns out, Paul was right, and they were wrong.

“The science is against you on this. The science is clear. Naturally acquired immunity is as good as a vaccine,” Paul said about the natural immunity of those who previously had COVID-19. Paul cited an Israeli study that showed vaccinations didn’t stop people from getting or spreading COVID-19 — especially compared to those with natural immunity after contracting the coronavirus.

“This isn’t an argument against the vaccine, but it’s an argument for letting people make a decision who already have immunity,” the senator said.

Additionally, consider how Paul was censored for speaking out against the effectiveness of masks. Given how science has vindicated the senator from Kentucky, every left-wing, Big Tech, and Democratic push to silence Paul looks foolish now. Furthermore, it shows the dangers of what happens when politicians try to censor and control the information the public receives. It’s also indicative of what could have been if the Biden administration had been able to implement its disinformation board.

All of this raises the question: Will Democrats ever be held accountable for trying to silence those that disagreed with them? They must not be allowed to categorize things they disagree with as disinformation — while continuing to spread disinformation themselves. Such tactics are the work of despotic tyrants, not democratically elected politicians.

If Paul’s plight has revealed anything, other than the truth about masks and vaccines, it’s that the Democrats who tried to silence him are the real threat to the safety of our country. Their insistence on restricting speech puts everyone at risk.
