A trading card game like you’ve never seen before
Card games might be one of the oldest genres in games with thousands of different games that all live from a few simple decks. After the digitalization of this genre, a whole new realm of possibilities opened. After decades of online trading card games, the Goons of Balatroon have drawn their lessons and combined that into ‘Goon Wars’, their twist to the TCG genre.
The idea of the game is simple — You play a game against someone else and your sole goal is to beat the other player. When you win however, you may win a wager from the other player and in the future unlock an additional card. Over time, your deck becomes stronger and more competitive. This dynamic of taking risk is what GOB has dubbed, risk-to-earn.

Giving true ownership to the players
The main reason for Goons of Balatroon to pick the Beam network as their preferred infrastructure partner that will house their on-chain activity, is the desire for true ownership. This unique control over their in-game items is something achievable using the Beam-SDK.
In practice this comes down to allowing players to trade, swap and sell their cards in a seamless and easy way. Through both an out-of-game marketplace, but eventually an in-game marketplace, players will have the ability to stay in the world of the game and seamlessly upgrade their decks, or get rid of those cards that do not fit their needs.
Lastly, using account abstraction, Goons of Balatroon will gear more towards the traditional web2 gamer. As the volume of gamers in the trading card game genre is enormous, the team is thrilled to invite all of them to have a go at their twist to the genre.
