Tucker: What the media refuses to report on regarding Brazil protests ‘should make you very nervous’

As part of a big picture breakdown on the dangers of censorship, Fox News host Tucker Carlson cut to the heart of the protests in Brazil and why the reasons behind it that corporate media “refuse to” report on “should make you very nervous.”

The one-sidedness of biased media has perpetuated the corruption of federal institutions while belittling the concerns of those who point it out as mere whataboutism or conspiracy theory. After reviewing recent reports of then-Vice President Joe Biden stowing classified documents akin to former President Donald Trump but without the politicized attack from the Justice Department, Carlson turned to the current turmoil in Brazil.

“Consider what is happening tonight in Brazil,” the host began with a summary that claimed, “Thanks to what was very clearly a rigged election, a convicted criminal, Lula da Silva, is now the president of the most important country in South America. Millions of people in Brazil understand exactly what happened. They know that their democracy has been hijacked, possibly forever.”

“But there’s not much they can do about that. Lula may be a criminal–in fact he is–but he has the full support of both the Biden administration and the Chinese government. So, yesterday in frustration, a group of Brazilian protestors swarmed their legislature,” he continued, airing footage of protesters gathered in and outside the legislature, which was not in session, and clashes with law enforcement sent to end their demonstrations.

“Now you may actually have seen some of that video in the United States over the last couple of days, and you saw it because it has political uses,” Carlson explained. “What’s happened in Brazil is likened to Jan. 6. And of course, populist leaders in this country are being blamed for it. ‘Oh, it was Trump and Steve Bannon who did it.’ That’s not true, but even if it were true, it would be just the tail-end of the story. It’d be the result of something that happened before.”

As previously reported, those on the left embraced the opportunity to mark two years since Jan. 6 and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) even went as far as to say Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro, for whom Carlson sided with protestors in contending had lost his reelection through a rigged process, should be kicked out of the United States where he had been staying since just before the new year.

“We must stand in solidarity with [da Silva’s] democratically elected government,” Ocasio Cortez tweeted. “The US must cease granting refuge to Bolsonaro in Florida.”

“The obvious question” Carlson brought up while others ran to hyperbole and demonization, “is why are protestors in Brazil so angry?”

“Well they’re angry because the new Lula government eliminated their most basic civil liberties,” he argued. “Lula is working to turn Brazil into a Chinese-style dictatorship and he’s doing it very quickly with maximum aggression.”

Meanwhile, President Biden threw his support behind the police state of da Silva Sunday and wrote on social media, “I condemn the assault on democracy and on the peaceful transfer of power in Brazil. Brazil’s democratic institutions have our full support and the will of the Brazilian people must not be undermined. I look forward to continuing to work with [da Silva].”

What Biden was actually supporting, according to investigative journalist Matthew Tyrmand who joined Carlson later in the program, was 1,200 Brazilians being held in a gymnasium without food and water since the protest had been stopped and where two were said to have already died. All the while, in the weeks following the election they had asked to have their concerns of election improprieties allayed with reasonable explanations.

“Now our media don’t want to talk about that; they refuse to. Why?” Carlson asked ominously as he reversed the accusatory light of the Jan. 6 comparison on the so-called journalists’ complicit, narrative-driven reporting. “Well for reasons that should make you very nervous.”
