THE ROLE

Contrary is seeking a talented builder and investor to join one of the world’s fastest growing venture capital firms. The Build Partner will collaborate and partner with Contrary’s broader investment team to identify exceptional future founders, starting in NYC, and work with them to explore ideas and start companies.

This role will be based at our Contrary NYC location.

Build (Incubations) / Investing

• Work directly with talented builders and founders within the NYC startup ecosystem to go zero-to-one on their company ideas
• Develop your own ideas in target markets, conduct diligence, and recruit founders to launch and build these new companies
• Own and manage membership (and membership acceptance process) for Contrary NYC, our members-only location in Flatiron
• Contribute to investment team decisions on which companies to support out of the pool of Build candidates

Community

• Help foster a builder-centric community at Contrary NYC
• Work with Contrary’s events team to host a handful of events each month to help identify new members, support existing members in their founder development and journey, and increase Contrary’s presence and visibility within NYC
• Partner with other organizations (startups, venture firms, external communities) to build and bolster Contrary’s brand
