Why ‘Greater Israel’ Never Came to Be. https://wp.me/p6Wacz-3LZ

Theodor Herzl: Discussed with Bodenheimer the demands we will make. Area: from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates. (Herzl Complete Diaries, Vol 2, P. 711)

Theodor Herzl: Nov 24, 1895. Lunched at the home of Sir Samuel Montagu, M.P. A house of English elegance, in grand style. Sir Samuel a splendid old chap, the best Jew I have met thus far. At table he presides over his family— which is actually unfriendly, or merely wellbred— with the air of a good-natured patriarch. Kosher food, served by three liveried footmen. After lunch, in the smoking room, I expounded my case. I gradually roused him to enthusiasm. He confessed to me— in confidence— that he felt himself to be more an Israelite than an Englishman. He said he would settle in Palestine with his whole family. He has in mind a Greater Palestine rather than the old one. He will hear nothing of Argentina. He is ready to join our committee as soon as one of the Great Powers takes the matter seriously. I am to send him my pamphlet before its final publication. (Herzl Complete Diaries, Vol 1, P. 280)

Theodor Herzl: With Goldsmid, I suddenly find myself in another world. He wants to deliver the Holy Sepulchre to the Christians stone by stone: part of it to Moscow, another part to Rome! Like Montagu, he too thinks of a Greater Palestine. (Herzl Complete Diaries, Vol 1, P. 282)

Theodor Herzl: We had a comfortable trip. In the compartment he unfolded his maps of Palestine and instructed me for hours on end. The northern frontier ought to be the mountains facing Cappadocia; the southern, the Suez Canal. The slogan to be circulated: The Palestine of David and Solomon! (The Complete Diaries of Theodor Herzl – Vol – page 342)

Ben Gurion: The present map of Palestine was drawn by the British mandate. The Jewish people have another map which our youth and adults should strive to fulfill — from the Nile to the Euphrates.

Deuteronomy 11:24 You will capture the land everywhere you go, from the Southern Desert to the Lebanon Mountains, and from the Euphrates River west to the Mediterranean Sea. 25 No one will be able to stand up to you. The Lord will make everyone terrified of you, just as he promised.

Deuteronomy 1:6 People of Israel, when we were in our camp at Mount Sinai,[e] the Lord our God told us:You have stayed here long enough. 7 Leave this place and go into the land that belongs to the Amorites and their neighbors the Canaanites. This land includes the Jordan River valley, the hill country, the western foothills, the Southern Desert, the Mediterranean seacoast, the Lebanon Mountains, and all the territory as far as the Euphrates River. 8 I give you this land, just as I promised your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Now you must go and take the land.

Ezekiel 47: 13-14 The Lord God said to the people of Israel:When the land is divided among the twelve tribes of Israel, the Joseph tribe will receive two shares. Divide the land equally, because I promised your ancestors that this land would someday belong to their descendants. These are the borders of the land:15 The northern border will begin at the Mediterranean Sea, then continue eastward to Hethlon, to Lebo-Hamath, then across to Zedad, 16 Berothah, and Sibraim, which is on the border between the two kingdoms of Damascus and Hamath. The border will end at Hazer-Hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran. 17 So the northern border will run between the Mediterranean Sea and Hazar-Enon, which is on the border between Damascus and Hamath.18 The eastern border will begin on the border between the two kingdoms of Hauran and Damascus. It will run south along the Jordan River, which separates the territories of Gilead and Israel, and it will end at the Dead Sea near the town of Tamar.19 The southern border will begin at Tamar, then run southwest to the springs near Meribath-Kadesh. It will continue along the Egyptian Gorge and will end at the Mediterranean Sea.20 The western border will run north along the Mediterranean Sea to a point just west of Lebo-Hamath.21 That is the land to be divided among the tribes of Israel. 22 It will belong to the Israelites and to any foreigners living among them whose children were born in Israel. These foreigners must be treated like any other Israelite citizen, and they will receive 23 a share of the land given to the tribe where they live. I, the Lord God, have spoken.

Joshua 13:2-7 Many years later, the Lord told Joshua: Now you are very old, but there is still a lot of land that Israel has not yet taken. 2-7 First, there is the Canaanite territory that starts at the Shihor River just east of Egypt and goes north to Ekron. The southern part of this region belongs to the Avvites and the Geshurites, and the land around Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron belongs to the five Philistine rulers. The other Canaanite territory is in the north. Its northern border starts at the town of Arah, which belongs to the Sidonians. From there, it goes to Aphek, then along the Amorite border to Hamath Pass. The eastern border starts at Hamath Pass and goes south to Baal-Gad at the foot of Mount Hermon, and its southern boundary runs west from there to Misrephoth-Maim. This northern region includes the Lebanon Mountains and the land that belongs to the Gebalites and the Sidonians who live in the hill country from the Lebanon Mountains to Misrephoth-Maim.With my help, Israel will capture these Canaanite territories and force out the people who live there.

Genesis 15:18 At that time the Lord made an agreement with Abram and told him: I will give your descendants the land east of the Shihor River on the border of Egypt as far as the Euphrates River. 19 They will possess the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaites, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites

Joshua 1:2 My servant Moses is dead. Now you must lead Israel across the Jordan River into the land I’m giving to all of you. 3 Wherever you go, I’ll give you that land, as I promised Moses. 4 It will reach from the Southern Desert to the Lebanon Mountains in the north, and to the northeast as far as the great Euphrates River. It will include the land of the Hittites,[a] and the land from here at the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea on the west. 5 Joshua, I will always be with you and help you as I helped Moses, and no one will ever be able to defeat you.

Numbers 34 The Lord told Moses 2 to tell the people of Israel that their land in Canaan would have the following borders:3 The southern border will be the Zin Desert and the northwest part of Edom. This border will begin at the south end of the Dead Sea. 4 It will go west from there, but will turn southward to include Scorpion Pass, the village of Zin, and the town of Kadesh-Barnea. From there, the border will continue to Hazar-Addar and on to Azmon. 5 It will run along the Egyptian Gorge and end at the Mediterranean Sea.6 The western border will be the Mediterranean Sea. 7 The northern border will begin at the Mediterranean, then continue eastward to Mount Hor. 8 After that, it will run to Lebo-Hamath and across to Zedad, which is the northern edge of your land. 9 From Zedad, the border will continue east to Ziphron and end at Hazar-Enan.10 The eastern border will begin at Hazar-Enan in the north, then run south to Shepham, 11 and on down to Riblah on the east side of Ain. From there, it will go south to the eastern hills of Lake Galilee, 12 then follow the Jordan River down to the north end of the Dead Sea.The land within those four borders will belong to you.

Exodus 23:31 I will see that your borders reach from the Red Sea to the Euphrates River and from the Mediterranean Sea to the desert. I will let you defeat the people who live there, and you will force them out of the land. 32 But you must not make any agreements with them or with their gods. 33 Don’t let them stay in your land. They will trap you into sinning against me and worshiping their gods.
