The soft launch games you need to know about

 

Take a peek at the games in testing from mobile’s biggest developers.

The games below are listed alphabetically and all details are subject to change, but we’ll update this article as they do.

Battle Rivals: Epic Clash (Miniclip)

Miniclip has soft launched this new strategy title in Italy and Portugal. It’s available on both iOS and Android.

Candy Crush 3D (King)

As we revealed in December 2023, King is testing this new contender in the growing ‘match 3D’ puzzle genre, currently led by Boombox’s Triple Match 3D, Zynga’s Match Factory and Spyke Games’ Tile Busters. Candy Crush 3D is currently only available in Malaysia and Philippines, on Google Play only.

Candy Crush: Blast! (King)

As we revealed in January 2024, Candy Crush Blast is currently only available on Android in the Philippines, and appears to be King’s take on Peak’s category-leading blast-puzzlers Toy Blast and Toon Blast.

Candy Crush Solitaire (King)

King’s solitaire-based spin on Candy is now in soft launch on Google Play only in Canada, Germany, Malaysia and Philippines, according to Appmagic.

Command & Conquer: Legions (Tencent)

This Tencent-made revival of the PC RTS classic is out in 16 countries, including Australia, Canada, Philippines, Singapore and several EU markets including the UK, France and Spain.

CSR 3 (Zynga)

Zynga and NaturalMotion quietly released an Android-only version of CSR 3 in Malaysia in early 2024, and also recently added iOS to the mix. As you can see in the video above, the CSR community has already been playing it and posting footage of the game to YouTube. The big innovation with the new game appears to be cornering.

FamilyScapes (Playrix)

This is a ‘scapes game that leans into a family drama type narrative. It appears to be in soft launch on Android only in the US, Canada, Australia, Indonesia and India.

Game of Thrones: Legends RPG (Zynga)

Zynga’s big brand match-RPG is available on iOS and Android in the Nordics, Spain, Belgium, Philippines and Indonesia. It is slated to go global sometime in 2024.

Greedy Wizards (Wildlife Studios)

This new dungeon crawler from Wildlife Studios-backed startup 8-Bit Bandits has gone into soft launch on iOS and Android. It is live in Sweden, Australia, Canada, Finland, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland and the UK.

Gwen’s Getaway (Ubisoft)

Ubisoft’s spin on the ‘Scapes genre is out on iOS and Android in Australia, Canada, Finland, India, Netherlands, Philippines, UAE and UK.

Honor of Kings (Level Infinite)

Tencent’s blockbuster MOBA is continuing its international expansion, and is now live in the Middle East, North Africa, Türkiye, CIS and South Asia on both iOS and Android.

LEGO Hill Climb Adventures (Fingersoft)

After a long spell in soft launch on Android in Vietnam only, this one is now going global on May 29, with pre-order open now on the App Store and Google Play.

Plants Vs Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia (EA)

This soft launch was announced in January 2024. It is out now on iOS and Android in the UK, Netherlands, Australia and Philippines. At the time EA said it is “near-launch” and a worldwide release will come “later this year”.

Plants Vs Zombies 3: Match (EA)

This PvZ-themed spin on match 3 has been in soft launch since May 2023, in the UK and Indonesia only. It’s Google Play only for now.

Puzzles & Passports (Big Fish)

Unusually, this travel puzzler from Big Fish in now soft launched in 10 big western markets including the US, Canada, UK, Germany and the Nordics. It’s Android only for now.

Questbound (Playrix)

Here’s something a bit different from Playrix, a squad battler with a fantasy theme. Appmagic says it is currently live in Australia, Canada, India, Indonesia and the US on Android only.

Rainbow 6 Mobile (Ubisoft)

This big-name shooter’s now in soft launch in Canada, Mexico, Chile and Colombia on iOS and Android, but development is on on pause for now, Ubisoft said in a recent blog.

Roomscapes (Playrix)

This latest ‘scapes game from Playrix is now in soft launch in India on Google Play only. The Home/Gardenscapes maker’s latest spin on the formula appears to have an interior design-based meta, and of course stars series mascot Austin.

Royal Kingdom (Dream Games)

This follow-up to the mighty Royal Match is out on iOS and Android in the UK, Canada, Philippines and Turkey. As we discussed in August 2023, it takes the very successful Royal Match formula and adds more PvP competition and a builder element.

Soccer Hero: Football Game (Miniclip)

Miniclip’s new multiplayer football card game is out now in beta on Google Play in Portugal and Egypt only.

Squad Busters (Supercell)

As you’ve likely read by now, the new squad battler from Supercell is currently in soft launch in Canada, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Mexico and Singapore on both iOS and Android. It will be released globally on May 29.

Star Wars Hunters (Zynga)

Zynga-owned Brighton studio BossAlien is making this multiplayer arena battler starring some new, original Star Wars characters. It’s available on iOS and Android in 17 countries, including the Nordics, Philippines, Mexico, India and Brazil.

The Division: Resurgence (Ubisoft)

Ubisoft did a closed ‘technical test’ in early April for this one, and has also said recently that it has been approved for release in China. Another limited test in November opened up the game to players in the US, Brazil and Australia. It’s currently live in pre-order on both Android and iOS, and is currently slated for launch by the end of the year.

Waffle Word Puzzle: Brain Game (Miniclip)

This crossword-like game is only available in the US and Portugal on iOS and Android. Miniclip is not known for its word puzzlers, so it’ll be interesting to see if this one goes global.

Zenless Zone Zero (Mihoyo)

Pre-registrations are now live for this brand-new Mihoyo action-RPG. The title is set to be released on iOS and Android later in 2024.
