Kate on the decks and dancing Camilla: How the ‘afterparty’ may have looked thanks to AI

Have you ever thought about what the coronation afterparty might have looked like?

Well, now thanks to some clever little robots you can get a peak behind the scenes of what the celebrations with Charles and Camilla could have been like.

Australian design agency, Start Digital, used AI to create the pics of all the Royals blowing off some steam – and the results are fantastic.

Neil Mason said he came up with the idea on Saturday morning and within a few hours he had a full gallery of the afterparty.

King Charles with a cigarette in a Hawaiian shirt, the Prince of Wales rocking some moves in a bright orange suit, and Kate behind the decks all sound like something out of a lucid dream.

Neil, from Perth, said he used an app called Midjourney to create the photos, after coming up with the idea on Saturday morning.

He said it took at least 3-4 hours for the bots to get working, but he was happy with the results, and the full set has been shared thousands of times on TikTok.

He told Metro.co.uk: ‘I use an app called Midjourney, which is one of the most popular image generation apps.

‘To get an image out of it you must type in what you want to see, so for example with the King Charles photo I asked it to create “a hyper realistic photo of Prince Charles wearing a shirt and tropical shorts at a party with a cigarette in his mouth in a Wes Anderson movie, shot with a Sony a7r, 200mm lens, f1.2, iso 100, 8k”.

It does sound super geeky but that was exactly what I had to do; they created the photos but it was all my own idea.

I was surprised with the results, AI is improving almost daily, and this could never have been done even 6 months ago. They’ve got a Wes Anderson vibe, and that was the intention.

He added: ‘The party looks like it would have been a laugh, I think it definitely would have been more fun than the actual party I’m sure they had, and better than the coronation concert last night too. I’m most intrigued by what tunes DJ Kate is dropping though, maybe she should have been playing last night too.’

‘I woke up on Saturday morning with the idea and had them online by about 11am, so it really didn’t take that long, but that is the power of AI these days.

‘The feedback has been great, everyone has loved them, and everyone seems to agree it looks like a more fun party than the coronation itself.’

The Royals surely didn’t have as much fun back at Buckingham Palace when all the coronation duties had finished on Saturday but Royal fans sure would have loved to have seen this.

The fake images made using artificial intelligence also depict a glum-looking Prince Harry and Meghan enjoying a glass of wine in matching bright yellow tracksuits back home in the US.

Other marvellous photos show a more unlikely image – Meghan and the King having a jive on a packed dancefloor together.

In our virtual coronation afterparty it wasn’t just the adults who were having fun, with Prince George in a suit throwing shapes.

Camilla is depicted in a solitary shot as she sips on a cup of tea with what looks like churros, but that looks more like the morning after, as in one snap she looks like she’s let her hair down to have a boogie.

The shots look like a mix between a Wes Anderson movie gone wrong, and more Royal Kingdom than Moonrise Kingdom.

The images make for a much more action-packed and lively-looking party to what the nation was treated to, as the King was crowned in a ceremony packed with pomp at Westminster Abbey.
