emergency

A parent of a Turlock High School student died Monday evening in the parking lot outside the campus after suffering a medical emergency, according to the Turlock Unified School District.

The man was identified as David Rowan, 54, of Turlock.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the high school at 7:21 p.m. Monday for a report of a person not breathing. Crews found Rowan unresponsive in a vehicle parked in a lot on Berkeley Avenue.

Firefighters and the ambulance personnel performed CPR for 40 minutes with no change. The hospital was contacted and a time of death was recorded.

A message sent to parents from the school district read, “As you may already be aware, first responders were called to THS last night for a medical emergency during an event at Turlock High School. It is with deep sadness that we share that the parent of one of our students has passed. Our thoughts go out to this family during this difficult time. Counselors will be available for any student needing support.”
