Research suggests life expectancy for Americans has declined

JACKSON, Tenn. — According to the CDC, the life expectancy for Americans has declined to 76.4 years, the shortest it has been in nearly two decades.

Since 66% of Americans do not have a will or trust (according to a recent caring.com study) this could leave serious implications for grieving family members.

With May being Older Americans Month, here are a few tips to better plan for the future.

Creating a will is a fundamental step in estate planning, guiding how assets and belongings should be distributed following one’s passing.

You should also appoint a power of attorney and set medical directives to safeguard your preferences in case you become incapacitated.
