GameDAO: Looking Back to Move Forward
Believe it or not it’s already November; with the year passing so fast, you might have missed what we’ve been up to. At GameDAO, we’re continuing to lay the foundations that will transform the gaming industry into a more sustainable one where all key contributors are fairly rewarded.
Overall, it’s been a difficult but rewarding year, with milestones achieved, partnerships made, but still so much more to accomplish. More than ever, we’re revving up to empower gamers, creators and esports guilds to collaboratively build the future of gaming.
After a successful three quarters of 2022, we’d like to give a brief overview of some of our key accomplishments, and look towards what’s next.
Catching Up
We appreciate it’s a busy and difficult time for a lot of us, so for those short on the clock, here’s a quick summary of our key results this year:
- Closed Seed Round of 1.65m USD
- Graduated from Outlier Ventures BaseCamp; joined their Ascent Program
- Launched Beta One of our GameDAO platform
- Joined the Substrate Builder Program and reached the first and second milestones
- Secured key partnerships with Acala & KILT, XP Fantasy and SPARX Esports
- Integrated with PolkaWallet and Talisman Wallet
- Created the Game3 Foundation, a charity to transform video games using new technology and to eventually make GameDAO fully decentralised
- GameDAO’s underlying network, ZERO, acquired a slot on the Rococo testnet
- WAVE Esports partnership and Guild Blueprint kick-off
Realising Our Vision through Key Infrastructure
Outlier Ventures
Outlier Ventures’ Basecamp program has proved a valuable acceleration program in helping us realise our mission of enabling key contributors in the games industry to participate and own parts of the industry. We successfully completed their Base Camp, and we’re now a part of their Ascent program which will focus on ensuring our tokenomics are primed for long-term growth and aligned with our vision.
Substrate
As part of the Substrate Builder Program’s Chain Track, we’re recognised as building an impactful chain–our underlying ZERO Network. We’ve achieved the first milestone which will aid us towards receiving launch support so that GameDAO’s launch goes smoothly and is prepped for further growth.
Rococo
ZERO Network successfully secured a slot on the Rococo testnet, taking us closer to a Polkadot Parachain. Acquiring a parachain slot will allow us to leverage the interoperability of the polkadot ecosystem, utilise its efficiency while focusing on what matters: building for better games and a more sustainable industry.
Creating a Platform to Connect Gamers, Investors and Creators
Beta One
After successfully launching the Beta I of GameDAO, we’re continuing to build ready for release by developing primitives that will enable users to connect, collaborate and co-create. In particular, we’re developing governance mechanisms and treasuries, getting ready for Beta II
Integrations
Integrating with PolkaWallet and Talisman further secures GameDAO as an interoperable platform building towards the multichain future of gaming. This will open up the platform to more users and more available wallets for an easier onboarding process.
Building Better Games, Together
Building more sustainable models in the gaming and entertainment industries means working with key partners involved in these ecosystems. So far, we’re proud to partner with innovators in this new space, and the esports industry.
Working with Acala, Polkadot’s DeFi hub, we can leverage their decentralised finance protocols and integrate their stablecoin and DeFi mechanisms natively on GameDAO, merging these with traditional finance processes to build new models in the games industry.
XP Corp
XP Corp have developed both a play-and-earn sports management game where you manage a team of esports players and compete for prizes–XP Fantasy–and Elite XP, a GameFi platform that sees gamers get rewarded in crypto for competing in triple-A titles like Fortnite and League of Legends. GameDAO will provide DAO tooling to XP Corp, allowing them to manage everything from the treasury to governance.
SPARX
SPARX are a Swiss esports organisation with teams in Rocket League and Counter-Strike: GO. There’s been a rapid rise in all-female esports teams, and SPARX are joining the charge. They’ve recently created a new team, SPARX Secret, a promising all-female Valorant roster which GameDAO is proud to sponsor as main team partner.
What’s next?
Q4 is looking to be just as busy and, hopefully, just as successful in terms of reaching milestones.
Q4: The New Wave
Soon, the GameDAO protocol will launch Beta II. This is an exciting development with more features, including:
- Whitelist Polkadot addresses
- Onboard and create an ecosystem-wide identity
- Receive access key drops as a reward
- Create a DAO, and a campaign
- Explore governance features
Later in Beta II, digital assets will also be integrated.
WAVE Esports
Our current focus is on using DAOs to create more sustainable business models for esports organisations while giving fans the opportunity to get more involved and rewarded.
We’ll be working with WAVE Esports, a lifestyle brand and esports organisation leading Europe. We’re collaborating with WAVE to create a blueprint for Esports Guilds that will offer a fan engagement platform using GameDAO’s protocols.
WAVE has a massive and active fan community with over 7 million followers across all their social media platforms, making them a prime partner for this exciting collaboration. We believe these fans will feel more heard, connected to and rewarded by the organisation through GameDAO’s guild blueprint.

2023
Next year will be even busier, as we expect the Guild blueprint to be more integrated across the global esports ecosystem. We’ll also be working to create the WASD Fund, a fund & accelerator for everything gaming and web3, as well as promoting investment syndicates on the GameDAO platform so that it becomes a powerhouse of a protocol for creatives to build on. Soon, we’ll have more to say on this — and we’ll be speaking more about the upcoming token launch of $GAME, scheduled for Q1 next year.
