The central human skill of the next decade will be agency. Not intelligence or better ideas.
Believe or not, but more insight won’t lead to action. We need to develop a new skillset that allows us to decide and act when there is no finished story.
We’ve learned to narrate everything: our careers, our beliefs, our identities. That worked when the world moved slowly. In an accelerated world, the story we tell ourselves breaks. Uncertainty doesn’t disappear, it becomes a feature.
That’s won’t be the end of humanity.
It will be the return of it.
