The Contrarian just launched on Substack and I encourage this community to support their pro-democracy publication. It sets a precedent for not-owned-by-anybody journalism and it's certainly an approach the cultures of media and politics could benefit from. During the election cycle, I often wrote from a place of persuasion, inviting those with opposing viewpoints into dialogue on key policy issues, using storytelling as the vehicle for civic education.
