Candidate Kimberly Zanon has formally withdrawn from the 2026 LD30 House Republican primary, according to her November 19th Facebook post. “Let’s stand together, vote the right people in, and continue protecting our community and our state.” she wrote.

A Mohave County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) coordinator, Zanon ran an unsuccessful primary campaign in 2024 for the LD30 Senate seat, receiving 20.7% of the vote against current freshman Senator Hildy Angius and local attorney Ashley Gerich.

Enter stage right. Mike Gannuscio, a lifelong conservative Republican has thrown his cowboy hat in the ring for the Legislative District 30 seat.

Gannuscio is a husband, a father, a successful businessman, as well as a local rancher who served as President and Executive Director of the Arizona Cattle Growers Association. During his tenure with the CGA he worked with influential people from all over the state and helped draft legislation on topics ranging from wolf management to state cattle grazing leases, from water issues to protecting ranch land.  He also helped to secure legislative budget appropriations for the University of Arizona to bolster the local beef cattle industry. As a former law enforcement officer in Mohave County, Gannuscio was awarded the Mohave County Lifesaving Award.

According to his website: “When I was asked to run for State House I was told my experiences would be a great asset in legislature too often dominated by Maricopa County interests." and "My diverse legislative experiences and deep community connections will help me to be an effective voice at the capitol." Gannuscio told the Mohave Free Press that he wants to focus on protecting our water supply as a top issue when elected.

Gannuscio will face Caroline Strecker, Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi, Grace Hecht, and if he is not officially disqualified David Rose, for one of two available seats, in the Republican primary election to be held next summer. Senator Hildy Angius announced November 5th that she was exiting the race but curiously has not yet taken down her online petition.
