As I continue to read, “Braving the Truth,” by Rachel Held Evans and others, I am struck by the gospel of Empathy. That word we have been told lately to fear… which is, in my opinion, another way to see Grace in action, and love stepping into the world.

Empathy stops demanding I be right, and rather listening to my neighbor in and through love. Me being right and convincing my neighbor they are wrong isn’t the way of Jesus.

The way of Jesus is loving the neighbor, and at the same time loving myself.

And in the end, when I love myself enough, I might be able to stop insisting to myself that I need to be right. I have faith and hope that love has and will continue to set us free.
