The pressure to be “always on” as a writer is soul-crushing at times.
Some days, I’m not feeling clever.
Some days, I’m not feeling particularly insightful.
Some days, it’s a slog to string five words together.
Rest is good. Non-writing activities are good. Stepping away is good. You don’t have to write every day or take any other advice that doesn’t feel authentic and true to you as a writer.
Imperfect days are a really, really important part of this journey.
