Friends in their 20s and 30s — can someone explain why most people do not want to have kids?
I could be wrong on several points here.
But from where I’m standing (in Singapore), we’re relatively affordable compared to many places and generally a great environment for families. Many people here say it’s all about cost, but I’m not fully convinced—plenty of people earn more than enough. My hunch is that younger generations, at least in Singapore, have shifted their aspirations, maybe becoming more self-focused (not necessarily a bad thing).
I’m genuinely curious and open to hearing everyone’s perspectives, whether you’re in Singapore or anywhere else in the world.
P.S. I ask this as a curious Singaporean, noticing that a population crisis might be inevitable. So please share your perspective.
