What I witnessed in Memphis continues to weigh on me. Federal and local law enforcement operated in unison, creating an environment of constant surveillance where families were afraid to leave their homes. As a member of the press, it was the first time I did not feel safe exercising my First Amendment rights, and that should concern all of us.
