If you measured the Biden legacy in lives lost and families destroyed, Afghanistan would hardly be the place to start, but it smacked us in the face with a very public display of insanity and incompetence in 2021.  It encompassed two of the administration’s major failures, the haphazard withdrawal itself and the broader immigration debacle.

The withdrawal showed us very plainly over a span of two weeks the damage possible through a poorly executed operation.

That operation continues to destroy, as we saw last week.  In our nation’s capital, U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom was killed, while her seriously injured colleague, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, is still in critical condition.  The attack suspect entered the U.S. as an asylee during that chaotic 2021 Afghanistan evacuation amid widespread concerns over rushed Afghan evacuee vetting.

In comparison, the broader immigration failure was a slowly marching wildfire that spread during the entire Biden administration. Immigrants died or became human smuggling victims because of the administration’s encouragement to make the deadly journey. Add to that the deaths from fentanyl smuggled across our border, and the deaths, rapes, and assaults directly from those in the country illegally.

The Biden administration's legacy, etched in tens of thousands of shattered lives from the chaotic Kabul catastrophe to the unchecked border inferno, stands as a stark reminder of incompetence and policy madness.
