Make money doing the work you believe in

Did you know that some of the largest companies in the world receive massive tax breaks—often at the expense of local communities? These tax breaks in addition to governments subsidies. How would other small businesses benefit from this same type of benefit?

The numbers for 2025 are just starting expect them to be much higher.

Take, for example, the Gigafactory Texas project. In 2020, the company behind it secured two major agreements: one with Travis County, Texas, guaranteeing them 70-80% of their property taxes back as grant funding for 20 years, and another with the Del Valle Independent School District, capping the taxable value of their property for a decade. These deals mean that while the company benefits from significant tax relief, local schools and public services miss out on critical funding that could improve education, infrastructure, and community resources.

What’s even more striking is that, according to reports, the tax savings from these agreements were considered "immaterial" to the company in recent years. In other words, these incentives represent a drop in the bucket for a corporate giant but could make a world of difference for local communities.

This isn’t just about one company or one factory—it’s about a system that prioritizes corporate profits over public good. When big businesses get massive tax breaks, who pays the price? It’s often working families and small businesses that rely on well-funded schools, roads, and public services.

It’s time to ask questions and demand transparency. How much are these incentives costing us? What could our communities achieve if that money were reinvested where it’s needed most? Let’s start a conversation about fairness, accountability, and where our tax dollars should really be going. After all, shouldn’t we all benefit from the growth and success of the companies that call our communities home?

Please share this information. It’s important to start conversations about these topics.
