American democracy is not under threat. It was under threat decades ago. We ignored the signs. Married With Children was on. You can’t blame us. The Simpsons. Big Gulps. Friday night lights.

American democracy is dead. It happened while you were getting froyo. There is only one way to get it back. You will not like it. No one will like it. It will be bloody. They will make sure of it.

The longer we wait to accept reality, the more deeply entrenched authoritarianism will become. As went Russia, so go we.
