War has become very real in Israel, all of a sudden. In the past week or so, Hezbollah has been significantly increasing the lethality of its attacks, and serious hits have been recorded in many Israeli cities.

As is Hezbollah's way, it's been a counter-escalation, matching Israel's expanding campaign of wide-scale destruction in Lebanon.

Today sees the peak of this trend with around 70 casualties reported in 3 different incidents: some 30 soldiers were injured in two separate incidents in Lebanon (severity of injuries was not reported), and 40 people (at least 9 of whom seriously and critically) were injured in a drone attack deep into Israeli territory, in Wadi Ara.

It has not been reported what the target of the drone attack was, but we could cautiously assume it was a military target.

As was easily predictable, Israel's initial string of successes is quickly fading in a sea of fear, pain, and loss.

I still believe this is only the gentle beginning of what Hezbollah can do: they will keep upping their game for many months. They still haven't used any of their heavy precise missiles, and the sophisticated deadly drones they operate, of which they have thousands if not more, have been but scarcely used.

Thousands of Israeli casualties can be anticipated in the coming weeks, many of whom will be soldiers preparing to invade Lebanon; it's going to prove very close to impossible for Israel to assemble the large forces it needs for that task where it needs them.

I think that the scale of fatalities and injuries is going to seriously shake the Israeli public, by force of sheer numbers, but also after being fed an unbelievably idiotic series of tragically premature victory celebrations.

In Israeli media, Hezbollah was all but done and out, and Israel only needed to send some soldiers to sweep them out conveniently. They were summing up the war which hasn't even started in earnest.

But don't worry, no lesson will be learned. Israel never learns and never changes. They will seek to escalate, maybe with strikes against Lebanese infrastructure. That is when the misery of Israelis will begin for real.

And they are also going to attack in Iran, probably with the Americans. I’ll post about it later today.
