If Graham Platner wins in Maine, and Abdul El-Sayed wins in Michigan, my hope is that actual socialists in the US will rapidly begin building prefigurative community power everywhere they can. Because if those two states swing progressive, AOC will absolutely be running for President, and on the off chance that she wins in 2028, there will be a narrow window of opportunity for the left to shake off the chains of the State of Capital and build the kinds of resilient communities that can render the State and Capitalism obsolete.

If those states don't swing progressive, Newsom will likely be the nominee, and then it's a very different ballgame in which communities are going to have to defend each other from the power consolidation of capital that will follow if he wins.
