Barack Obama has spent most of the post‑presidency choosing restraint. He rarely comments on the daily chaos, even when it would be easy — or tempting — to do so.

That’s why his recent willingness to speak out, repeatedly and urgently, should not be dismissed as “politics.” It’s a sign. A warning. A former president who understands the stakes is telling the country that something is deeply wrong.

America should listen.
