glad to see some resistance. I’ve had a hard time with Substack in terms of content overload, and AI engagement slop is going to make things insufferable. Again. The chief asset of Substack is its email base, which though mine is comparatively modest (also niche), can be ported to other platforms. As the shift away from what launched the platform when I joined in 2019, e-mail, I’ve worried about the discovery mechanisms being infiltrated, AI or Human. When monetization here is ideas, words, but really just engagement, it means there will be a flood of the wrong readership. The right readership are those who care about what they receive, and support as one might on Patreon. They do not want teasers and LinkedIn drivel for buy-in.
Substack Team: can you please tweak your algorithm to downgrade AI-generated Notes like this one? I’m not sure anyone is interested in reading more faux-Claude-content-mill garbage…(singling out Tom Keugler here because he actually wrote a post on how to generate viral Notes like these with AI, although there are many more who post this nonsense!)
