A very interesting observation from the post … “I don’t see Quebec separatists as traitors the same way I do Alberta separatists. Quebec is a distinct culture, with a deep history that is vastly different from the rest of Canada. Alberta is a province carved from the North-West Territories. It is not a distinct culture. Rodeos do not a culture make.
Ontario and Quebec are as different as apples and oranges. Alberta and Saskatchewan are interchangeable. Trust me, I’ve lived in both and the only difference is the flag and the landscape.
Quebec wanted to separate because it saw itself as a unique nation, and it wanted to oversee its own affairs. I can understand that.
Alberta wants to separate because the Government of Canada won’t do everything they ask.
One province is a young adult, wanting to follow its own path away from its parents.
The other province is a child throwing a tantrum.”
