I am a mom and I still have my mom. But to me, the coolest thing about Mother’s Day is observing the wild mamas and babies in my backyard. The robin bringing worms to her hatchlings in the nest she built at the top of my downspout. The turtle who comes up out of the lake and labors for hours digging a hole in my lawn and laying her eggs, then burying them. The fluffy yellow Canada Goose goslings parading around with mom and dad, knowing instinctively how to peck for food. Mallard ducklings, too - seven swimming in a perfect line in mama’s wake. These mamas nourish my soul as they so beautifully exemplify love and nurture and faithfulness.
