Idea: could we stop pitting complementarianism and egalitarianism as opposites?

Hear me out. If complementarianism is the idea that men have some semblance of authority over their wives, the opposite would be a reverse structure, where women have authority over their husbands. This equally lopsided approach could be called something new, or just female-dominated complementarianism. I don’t actually care.

My point is that there is a third way, where both partners have authority and practice mutual deference (I’m tired of the word submission) to one another.

At my church, the (male) priests often pit the two terms against each other, but it’s a false dichotomy.

Egalitarianism IS the middle way.

Also, here is my dog Lola. Because.
