As I understand it, the DNC under Ken Martin has actually significantly out fundraised previous comparable years. The reason we don't have a lot of “cash on hand” is that the money is being pushed out to the states for year round organizing as fast as it is coming in, which is what we wanted the DNC to do. It's the national consultants that want a big pile of cash accumulated so they can spend it on huge last minute ad buys. That's why they are leading the call for Martin's head on a platter. Yes, the postmortem got totally botched, but the truth is that we all knew what needed to be done and Martin is doing it. I have seen this happen many times. Every time a state chair tries to make real change, the money people behind the scenes go after them and take them down. So I recommend that you think twice before jumping on this bandwagon. I am not saying that we don't need even more change. It's possible that someone else might do a better job. But the failures of leadership of the Democratic Party should be laid at the feet of the elected leaders. They decide what the Party stands for. The DNC only does logistical support.
