Make money doing the work you believe in

We all saw that Trump posted an AI image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ. When challenged (amidst huge backlash from his base), he said no, the fake media had it wrong and it was actually depicting him as a doctor. “I make people better,” he said.

He’s been happily telling us for years who he is. Chosen by God. Beloved by Jesus. A healer. A saviour of people.

Okay.

Show me.

Find me a single moment that’s not a campaign stop, not a press event and not a photo op where Trump chose to be somewhere for others that he didn’t have to be. Maybe he’s sitting with a dying senior in a hospice. Serving food at a shelter. Holding the hand of a grieving mother. Sitting with a sick child. Just to sit with them and offer comfort

Not because cameras were there. Because the person in need was there.

I’ll wait.

Now go ahead and search Pope Leo XIV, the man Trump has been publicly feuding with this week.

You’re going to find a man who inherited the most powerful religious office on earth and whose first act was to write a document declaring that the poor are not burdens to be managed, but teachers we should learn from. Who, on his very first foreign trip, chose to spend time with elderly residents in a nursing home in Istanbul housing Turks, Armenians, African refugees and a Jewish resident. All people the world had long stopped rushing to visit. Who then travelled to Beirut, a city scarred by war, and sat with children in a hospital for the mentally disabled.

He had every reason to fill his hours with cathedrals and dignitaries. He chose not to.

Leo doesn’t claim to be holy. He just shows up with acts that are holy.

Two men at the pinnacle of power. One tells us who he is. One shows us who he is.

That’s the real difference between performing compassion and actually practicing it.

Power without compassions performs for the sake of PR. It’s hollow and means nothing.

Power with compassion shows up for people in need when there’s nothing to gain yet still offering love and understanding.
