Say NO to the fundraiser below, which is raising money for ICE shooter Jonathan Ross:

“After seeing all the media bs about a domestic terrorist getting go fund me. I feel that the officer that was 1000 percent justified in the shooting deserves to have a go fund me. Funds will go to help him,” writes the organizer, one Clyde Emmons (of 1625 Grim Rd Bentley, MI 48613, according to public sources).

REPORT THIS FUNDRAISER TO GOFUNDME and TELL YOUR LOCAL PRESS AND ELECTED REPS ABOUT IT.

It potentially violates the law (not that folks seem to care about that anymore) and GoFundMe’s terms of service. Here is what is clear:

1) Fundraiser does not state explicitly who the beneficiary will be or how the funds will be used. (2) Fundraiser appears to violate GoFundMe TOS 8.3, 8.8, 8.9 and possibly 8.10.

The funds are being raised for unknown or vague reasons ("to help him" ), the "him" being Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent shown in vivid detail across the internet shooting an unarmed woman in the head during a confrontation in Minneapolis, USA.

GoFundMe prohibits graphic content (the image of a masked man who has just shot someone, well-known in media this date, and TOS 8.3); prohibits activity in support of extremism, hate, and violence (8.8); prohibits content that reflects or incites bullying (8.9); and prohibits the legal defense of violent crimes such as murder, for which the apparent beneficiary is or may be currently under investigation (8.10).

Since the organizer does not list the uses of the funds being raised, one can reasonably infer that legal defense may be one possible intended use, as no hardship has otherwise been listed as necessitating this fundraiser.

Other language to use:

I am reporting this fundraiser because it appears to support or glorify an officer who is alleged to have fatally shot a civilian in a controversial incident.

Public reporting of this case indicates the event is under active investigation and contested. A fundraiser praising or financially supporting someone involved in a violent incident may violate GoFundMe’s policies against supporting violence or criminal activity.

I request review under GoFundMe’s terms prohibiting promotion of illegal activity, violence, or harassment.

The fundraiser’s description includes language that seems to justify or endorse violence against a civilian and directly solicits funds for legal defense. I believe this could violate policies against supporting harmful acts or activity that promotes harm.
