My life chronically for the past 11 months, and consistently for 23 years:

58 minutes on hold with a government agency, and counting... They (no doubt purposely) choose THE most annoying elevator music—oh wait!

It cut out— never mind.

Back to the music. They interrupt this music every 20 seconds…or 10 seconds…or half-second to blather at you that you’ll get suuuuuch faster results by going onto the website.

if you actually have a problem, not just need a little general info or an address or this phone number, this is a LIE.

I’m surprised they haven’t kicked me yet. That often happens around a ½ hour. But we’re over an hour now and still holding.

I have 2 more of these phone calls to make today. I’ve already filled out a worksheet for another agency. Highlight of today’s agency dealings because that was actually easy.

This entire hold experience is diabolically engineered to do one thing: MAKE YOU SCREAM AND QUIT!!!!

If you don’t quit, you can’t read, watch TV, listen to music, do any work that requires neurons—not if you have my kind of TBI. Possibly not if you have a general brain—you’d have to tell me what kind of brain it takes to be capable of doing anything with this crap. And if you can concentrate because you’ve tuned it out or turned the volume down to a whisper, good luck hearing when the agent finally comes on because often the volume of the phone call suuuucks.

Speaking of. I should stop typing and concentrate so I don’t miss it because I’m totally tuning it out. That’s not good. Having to go all the way back Start at this point is grounds for game board flipping. This is why we make our kids play Sorry and other enraging, middle finger-inducing bullshit…

Annnnd I’m back. Whoa!!!!! They didn’t kick me! And the agent was super nice, knowledgeable, efficient. I’ve been getting really good ones the past month, which was not the case for many years. Boom. All needs handled, and she even could answer my questions about one of the other phone calls. I’ll do the last one later.

Flopping over half-brain-dead. I need to sleep now. And I’m not exaggerating.
