Make money doing the work you believe in

We have three notebook horses back out this afternoon.

At Epsom (2.05), PINA SONATA had plenty on at the weights but still came home in front to win the Listed Snowdrop Stakes at Kempton in March, value for more at the line that day. She can go close, having won on easy ground at Leicester almost exactly a year ago.

ITEM (4.00 Epsom) was impressive when winning the Dante Stakes at York, maintaining an unbeaten record. I’m not convinced he wants 12f, though his rider believes he’ll stay; this easy ground will test him fully, so he is passed over for the Blue Riband.

The other runner is interesting at Doncaster (3.05). ANY WHICH WAY wasn’t given the best of rides at Windsor last time, gaining all the way to the line, given too much to do, having caught my eye the time before at Nottingham. Still green that day, he won over an extended 10f to win by 2L despite still showing signs of inexperience, changing legs and was subsequently raised less than I envisaged, though is up another 2lb for that Windsor effort. It’s not the deepest of races, and with the yard amongst the winners of late, he should make his presence felt upped a further 3f, trading around the 3-1 mark.

Good luck all if having a bet this afternoon.
