"Dangerous lunatics, haters, and punk trash"
So glad OBAA delivered the counterforce energy :)))
The Bovino/Lockjaw isomorphism is uncanny!
It kinda feels like Vineland was almost Pynchon apologizing for the failures of the 1960's counterculture, and very presciently pointing out the resultant dangers that lie ahead:
"Someday, with the right man in the White House, there will be a Department of Jesus, yes and a Secretary of Jesus... Dismantle the New Deal, reverse the effects of World War II, restore fascism at home and around the world, flee into the past, can't you feel it, all the dangerous childish stupidity-"
But with The Invisibles and OBAA you get the perspective that it didn't actually fail, because it remains ongoing, transforming, iterating... fighting back!
"Nothing ends that isn't something else starting."
One of my favorite bits from The Invisibles:
"My Invisible initiation involved three years as a trainee accounts manager. I learned how to shovel numbers, go home and dream, get fat on tortillas and Oreos."
Reminds me of Michael Washburn's spiral model of transpersonal psychology. (Which I much prefer to Ken Wilber's hierarchical linear version.) The spiral model has a kind of two steps forward / one step back pattern, and contextualizes the one step back as "regression in the service of higher integration," which really helps deal with the inevitable boom/bust cycles.
"Then, when I was ready, I found them again..."
Anecdotally enough I can confirm a feeling of higher integration that kicked off around mid January. A very non-manic rising tide of disciplined focus and will power. Somehow, suddenly, easy breezy!
"All is One or Else" (!!!)
Deep deep down, where my adolescent power fantasies are sublimated into constructive productivity, I do in fact very sincerely, if irrationally, believe that the Kree way is supreme, and diligently honor my vow to complete it!
