Purely economically, the free time of a higher income person is more valuable. But it's probably a bad way to put it to your spouse, unless the context is you're going to hire a cleaner instead of cleaning, which is a good idea. But I brought the car up because I've noticed this discussion seems to be directed at particular UMC couples who have newer houses and cars, where most of these traditionally “masculine “ tasks are outsourced. It's harder to argue your husband doesn't do enough when he's pulling the alternator out of the car.
