Morning arrives and we awaken to discover that we did not die in the night; some of us are pleased and others are not, such are the minds of human beings.
During the day we work or wander, read or write or both, are productive or nonproductive, sober or not, we teach or learn or both or neither, and in these ways time is passed until night returns.
We pass the night sleeping or making love or both, we worry or pray or dream, and we close the drapes so we can avoid looking into the darkness, so that whatever lurks in the darkness cannot look in at us.
If we close our eyes will we ever awaken again?
Is the last thought before sleep possibly the final thought of this life?
Will tomorrow come, and will we be here to greet it?
What are we?
What does living mean?
