My initial reaction to today’s loss for Wales was one of sheer dismay. A schoolboy try gifted to Scotland, and officials missing an offside player in the ruck for their winning score, will be talking points across Wales, I’m 50/50 on whether it’s a red or just the yellow, at the speed the games played in not sure if I agree he could drop his higher in time (one I’m sure Scot’s will argue I’m wrong).
There were genuine glimmers of hope from a starting fifteen who stepped up and delivered a dominant performance for 40/50 minutes.
If we can cut out the costly errors and find consistency across eighty minutes, I believe we will bounce back sooner than many expect.
Scotland deserve real credit for keeping their nerve and finding a way through.
Finn Russell’s quick kick off illustrated perfectly why he is, rightly, considered one of the finest tens in the game right now.
Tandy and the coaching staff still have plenty of work ahead of them, but do I dare say it?
The time this squad has spent together is beginning to bear fruit.
