Daniel Carpenter
Daniel Carpenter is Allie S. Freed Professor of Government at Harvard University. He is the author of Democracy by Petition: Popular Politics in Transformation, 1790–1870 (2001). For twenty years, he has taught “What is a Republic?” at Harvard.
