It appears that, for now, the OMB “impoundment” ends. Whether that turns out to be the case in reality remains to be seen.

If you want to read why this was such a big deal… I wrote about it extensively last night. In the end, I feel confident it’s a losing policy issue.

Apparently OMB agreed (after some gnashing of teeth I suppose.)

The irony is this - OMB can always just seek actual recissions. The Republicans in Congress have done nothing but signal their willingness to rubber stamp everything the President asks for in terms of legislative initiatives. If he wants to end money for this or that… he just has to follow the damn law. Congress will more than likely give him everything he asks for and then some.

I may not like his choices, but, he did win the election. He does have this power to govern. What he doesn’t have is the power to usurp the authority of Congress.
