Tonight: Black women-it turns out Nana might have been more than “gossip”…

They might have been feeding you information everyone else thought you would spend a lifetime not comparing to someone else.

Long before group chats, the internet, or actual evidence, there was Nana, who could relay facts in kitchen closets, during salon-top discussions, parking lot confidences, during front porch talks and over low whispered messages: “I ain’t telling you what to do,” but you get it.

We were conditioned to dismiss those exchanges.

But what if that “mess” isn’t just rumor?

What if one has the details on the finances, the other the details on a temper, the other details about what goes on behind the closed doors- and your silence is is someone else’s benefit… tonight we talk about the inherent “danger of women’s gossip,” comparing notes so that women can protect themselves against predatory people and “nasty gossip” The kind that is often intentional to keep us uninformed of important and even harmful details about another.

Everyone is welcome to share the discussion here… And because Nana always listened to women share stories…Did anyone or Nana warn you about someone where later down the line you realized her words weren’t the gossip but the truth.

Tonight, we give Nana a chance to have the room.
