It took me a couple of days to watch this video, but Tara Palmeri hooked me from the jump. She makes a brilliant reference to Barbara Walters.
Barbara Walters did not shy away from interviewing people with distasteful dispositions. Ms. Walters provided us with a historical reference to responsible journalism and we are bearing witness to the consequence of its absence.
The American people, myself included at times, have become painfully willing to burrow into comfort, to shield our/themselves from dangerous truths and most damningly — to ignore people who tell us who they are.
Ms. Palmeri exposes a gubernatorial candidate who is telling us who he is. This interview is a warning for Floridians as he has favorable polling and is drawing in donors and attention from like minded syncopates who love to hate “different.”
The blaring lack of respect and appreciation for culture is rooted in insecurity and ignorance. Supremacism, indifference, and the woeful lack of exposure to other cultures (whether due to indifference or lack of education) is why concentration camps are being built as I write this and as you read this.
Looking away is a passive contribution to the construction of these buildings.
