This was a great discussion. I'm a big fan of Jem’s work, his book and his blog. Really liked that he pushed back on the geoengineering stuff. I find this term is often used incorrectly in the “conspiracy porn” context that Jem has written about previously. It's a way of attributing blame and agency to emergent systems that are already baked in, and often wrongly applied to multiple disparate things. I've lived with collapse issues in my life for a very long time, and I can tell that Jem has also sat with it all long enough to move past blaming individuals and groups. Taking a step back to think about the governing systems is always instructive.
