Remember back to your Econ 101 class? This reminds me of "deadweight loss" or Harberger triangles — wealth that simply vanishes. Due to tariffs raising costs, consumers buy less, or substitute to pricier domestic alternatives. Foreign sellers sell less. The transactions that would have happened — and the jobs attached to them — don't.
And if you have a corporate job, this is also why you may lose it.
