Hello Substack. Let me introduce myself. I’m an investigative journalist & writer with the Guardian & Observer in the UK. I was nominated for a Pulitzer for my Cambridge Analytica/Facebook investigation & I’ve been investigating the impact of technology on democracy for 8 long years.

And in terms of what’s coming next, I have skin in the game. If you report on the weaponized information space, you’ll become a target of it. It begins online and then the legal threats arrive. I survived a four-year lawsuit and a harassment campaign that nearly broke me. I’m still here but I’m fearful for what’s coming down the line for in the Trump-Musk era.
